Denise McDaniel is an oil painter best known for her plein air and landscape paintings. Her art reflects a lifetime of study and practice that began with a love of children’s book illustrations and is informed by academic training and museum scholarship.
In 2021 Denise won five plein air awards including first place in the Cumberland County, NJ Competition and the award for Best Architecture, at Chesterfield, NJ. Denise also won first prize at the Willingboro Art Alliance Summer Open.
Her most recent solo show, “Days of Future Passed”, a Retrospective, was held at the at the Annex Gallery at the Smithville Historic Mansion in Mount Holly, last April. It was Denise’s third solo show and featured 94 of her works, including still life and portraiture.
Denise received a BFA from Moore College of Art, majoring in fashion illustration. She worked professionally as a technical illustrator and graphic designer in government electronics. Denise is a member of the Princeton University Art Museum Docent Association where she enjoys studying and presenting the works of great masters, ancient cultures, and world class contemporary artists.
